On October 9th, 2024 the EU published NEW sanctions in relation to persons, entities and bodies responsible for, implementing, or supporting actions or policies by the Government of the Russian Federation which undermine or threaten the fundamental values of the Union and its security, independence and integrity, as well as the stability, security or independence of its Member States, of international organisations or of third countries, or the sovereignty of Member States or third countries. Even though there are no names listed who are subject to these sanctions yet, we expect this to happen soon.

Update of EU guidance on July 3rd, 2024 results in a MAJOR CHANGE in how the EU determines ownership regarding sanctioned persons!

The EU issued new sanctions against Russia on 27 May 2024 for natural or legal persons, entities or bodies responsible for serious human rights violations or abuses, for the repression of civil society and democratic opposition, and for undermining democracy and the rule of law in Russia, and on natural or legal persons, entities or bodies associated with them. 19 natural persons and 1 legal person have been added to the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies set out in the Annex.

Sunday June 30, 2024 the EU published amended sanctions regarding Belarus. Most important changes we noted are similar to those with the EU sanctions against Russia;

Tuesday May 14th, 2024 the EU updated her sanctions against Iran in view of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. They are now called: ‘restrictive measures in view of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and to armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region’ and now include a travel ban and freezing of funds and economic resources against the listed parties as well as an extension of prohibited items usable in UAVs.
