Sanctions for EU importers of iron and steel products (yes, this includes even importing ordinary screws or washers);
Are you importing iron and steel products from a non-sanctioned non-EU country (e.g. India, Japan, China), where the product is listed in Annex XVII of Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 of 31 July 2014 and therefor subject to article 3g? Take for example HS code 7318: BASE METALS AND ARTICLES OF BASE METAL / ARTICLES OF IRON OR STEEL / Screws, bolts, nuts, coach screws, screw hooks, rivets, cotters, cotter pins, washers (including spring washers) and similar articles, of iron or steel. These can for example be ordinary screws or washers but many more products are listed!
Since 30 September 2023, you (may) have to provide a declaration to EU customs that these goods are not of Russian origin, AND (this is the snag), that they were not produced with Russian origin iron or steel! Are you prepared?
